2023 Reflecting on the Year End

Introduction: As the year draws to a close, I find myself enveloped in a mix of emotions – a sense of aimlessness and a lingering feeling of dissatisfaction. Despite being actively engaged in various projects and maintaining a steady exercise routine, there’s an undercurrent of restlessness that I can’t seem to shake off.

Self-Assessment and Aimlessness: This year was a carousel of activities – hopping from one project to another, searching for focus and drive. The time was spent working on multiple ventures, yet the clarity of purpose remained elusive. Despite some successes in selling a business the prior year, humility dictates recognizing the possibility of decline from past peaks.

Evaluation of the Year’s Activities: My year was dotted with ventures: the development of an MVP, consistent exercise, and a back injury that derailed my gym routine. I indulged in less healthy habits, like consuming more sugar and spending excessive time on Reddit and YouTube. There were distractions too – travel, renovation projects, and a flurry of online activities. Each project, from the MVP Shopee Chatbot Chrome to the BizSale App, held its unique challenges and learnings.

In order of the proudest projects:

  1. BizSale remake attempt

    • proudest of incoporating typesense and database
    • able to track new listings and notify on telegram
    • using new framework - nextjs
  2. Chatbot for shopee to automate response to customer MVP

  3. Fully working library booking system and almost 100% automated

  4. NFT bot with telegram ping

  5. Gelato Business SOP query chatbot on telegram

Health and Lifestyle Choices: Physical health was a focus, yet inconsistent. Regular exercise routines were offset by dietary lapses and late nights. The back injury was a significant setback, impacting both my physical activity and mental well-being. The other main injury was sprinting in the nike shoes. that caused some form of swell in the left ankle.

Successes and Regrets: There were moments of pride, like working with new technologies and seeing projects reach functional stages. But alongside these successes were regrets – the MVP not pushed far enough, the gym routine disrupted, and too much time lost in digital distractions. Financially, ventures like BBBYQ led to significant losses, leaving lessons about investment and belief in one’s pursuits.

Learning from Experiences: During my runs, I found clarity. The realization that embracing challenges and preparing for hardships is essential. These moments of physical exertion mirrored my mental struggles, teaching me resilience and the need to face discomfort head-on. I think it is still fresh within me of how to maintain that level of toughness, but it could probably disappear over time. Dont let it slide away, it took like 4 or 5 above 20km training runs and the full marathon to remember what it was like and what it should maintain to be.

Future Goals and Reflections: Looking ahead, I recognize the need for more focused reading and research, particularly in areas like startup data and market trends. The aim is to find a balance between pursuit of passion and financial pragmatism, to engage in projects that not only interest me but also hold potential for growth and income.

Influence of External Factors: External factors, like my back injury and the global situation, significantly impacted my focus. They prompted a reassessment of priorities, leading to a more cautious approach to physical activities and a reconsideration of my project choices.

Coping with Disappointment and Setbacks: Despite these setbacks, I remain optimistic. There’s a belief in regaining what’s lost, but with a renewed emphasis on action and immediacy. Returning to the discipline of regular gym visits and mindful living is a step towards this goal.

Conclusion: As I reflect on the year, the journey has been as much about self-discovery as it has been about the projects undertaken. The coming year offers a chance to apply these lessons, to seek purpose with renewed vigor, and to find a balance that aligns with both my personal and professional aspirations.

Reference Material: Took me 3 or 4 days to get a record of what i did the entire year. Then drafted it out a few times here.
